Introducing 21st century outdoor animated Christmas
lights
There is something special about Christmas lights. It’s almost as though they light up the
world in a loving and positive way. They’re bright, cheerful and interesting. And outdoor animated
Christmas lights are spirited too.
Think about some of the cities in the world that string up Christmas lights
year after year, just for effect. Many of these are outdoor animated Christmas lights that flash, twinkle or blink,
showing Father Christmas and his reindeer, Christmas tree lights,
lanterns, holly and ivy, and just about every other so-called Christmas item as an illuminated shape.

Of course with these lighting pageants comes the growing issue of electricity usage. There are many who will
argue that this annual splendor all over the world is just a waste of money – unless of course the city concerned
has taken the important step towards solar power.
When it comes to your own outdoor animated Christmas lights, you can take a step in the right direction and go
solar – if of course you haven’t already. All you’ll need are a few solar string
lights and you’ll be ready to roll. Just like all the other string lights we’ve used in the past, solar strings
are made to blink or flash on and off. There’s instant animation.
Of course the main difference between old style string
lights and the 21st century type is the energy used. Old style was electrical. and new style uses the free
power of the sun. The new style also uses LED bulbs that are sealed in a plastic sleeve that becomes the rope or
string. Remember the old type of Christmas string lights consisted of lots of little individual incandescent or
fluorescent lights that were wired together. While those that flickered, blinked or twinkled were certainly
animated, there is no way that you could have used them outdoors. They were also restricted pretty much to use as a
Christmas tree decoration. Because this new generation string light is encased in plastic, it won’t be damaged by
snow or rain because the moisture can’t get inside the casing.
The new-style 21st century outdoor animated Christmas lights may be strung around trees, statues, pillars and
columns, or used to define walkways and openings, from gates and doorways to windows. Outdoor Christmas lights are decorative all year round and can be used as a
landscaping tool or as a décor element for special occasions outdoors at night.
Animated Christmas lights are available in different lengths, for
example 39 ft that comes with 102 LEDs and 23 ft with 50 LEDs. The LEDs are also different colors including red,
green, blue and white. Each set of LED has its own solar ‘factory’ that charges the battery in the sunlight during
the day. A good quality charger will even work if it is overcast and cloudy, although battery recharging is
definitely most effective on sunny days. Manufacturers advise that they need at least three hours of charging a
day. More on solar rope lights
If you’re going to limit the use of your lights to Christmas time, then you can store them and recharge again
next year. Otherwise they’ll just keep going hour after hour, day after day, year after year. More on Solar powered Christmas lights
